The Camino Primitivo is the oldest Camino of all the pilgrimage routes to Santiago de Compostela. Its route begins in Asturias, in the city of Oviedo, and enters Galicia through the province of Lugo.
This route stands out for the immense beauty of its mountainous landscapes and the permanent tranquility when crossing areas of pure rural character. It is a little crowded itinerary but that year after year grows in number of pilgrims, attracted by adventure and originality. Among the routes that were declared World Heritage, the Camino Primitivo is the oldest route.
To complete the route to Santiago de Compostela you will need a couple of weeks if you start from Oviedo, or just a week if you want to start from Lugo by completing the last 100 Km (62 Mi) and obtaining the Compostela certificate.
