The Camino del Norte in Galicia begins in Ribadeo, a picturesque coastal town of medieval times.
In just 10 stages you can complete the itinerary until you reach Santiago de Compostela, coinciding in the last two days, from Arzua, with the pilgrims who come from the Camino Frances.
Today's route goes from Ribadeo to Lourenza leaving the coast and entering essentially rural areas of Galicia with small villages such as Ponte de Arante. We recommend visiting the Monastery of San Salvador in Lourenza.
After spending the night in Lourenza, you will continue your Camino del Norte passing through Mondoñedo, a town with a long history and considered one of the most beautiful in Galicia and Spain. The Cathedral and the old town are of special interest.
Today's stage begins in Abadín and is merely flat, crossing the Arroyo de Abadin, green meadows and villages with farms to reach the city of Vilalba.
From Vilalba you will follow your Camino del Norte through the Terra Chá (flat land) crossing bridges and beautiful agricultural villages in the middle of a magnificent and relaxed natural environment. In Baamonde we recommend that you visit the Church of Santiago.
You will continue your journey through different practically unpopulated villas. Tranquility and nature will continue to accompany you to Miraz.
Today you will follow your path to the maximum level of the Camino del Norte with a recommended stop in Marcela, a good place to take a break and enjoy wonderful views. Your Camino continues to Sobrado dos Monxes, where you can see its historic Monastery of Santa Maria de Sobrado.
Today's stage will take you to Arzua where the pilgrims of the Camino del Norte join those of the Camino Frances to continue along this route to Santiago de Compostela. In Arzua you will find an exquisite cheese, do not forget to try it.
After spending the night in Arzua, your path continues through meadows and forests through small villages until you reach Pedrouzo, where you will sleep tonight.
From Pedrouzo, this wonderful stage begins with destination in the Plaza del Obradoiro in Santiago de Compostela, where you will go through Lavacolla and with a slight ascent to O Monte do Gozo, from where you can enjoy wonderful views of the city and contemplate the beautiful cathedral of Santiago de Compostela.
It is time to explore the splendid city of Santiago de Compostela, its historic center, one of the best preserved in Europe, and the countless examples of history and culture that have led it to be part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site . We recommend including some extra night to have more time to discover the city with guided tours or to Finisterre .
