Itinerary
  1. Leon

Arrival in the beautiful city of Leon. In Leon it is advisable to visit the wonderful and well preserved historic center with its beautiful Cathedral as the greatest exponent. You will also have the opportunity to see the Casa de Botines, a building by the popular architect Gaudí or the Convent of San Marcos, among many other monuments that make up a wonderful architectural heritage.

  2. From Leon to Mazarife, 21 Km (13 Mi)

Today a stage awaits you with hardly any elevations, in which you will cross different fields. Tonight you will rest in the municipality of Mazarife.

  3. From Mazarife to Astorga, 28 Km (17 Mi)

After spending the night in Mazarife, your Camino de Santiago will continue towards Hospital de Orbigo, a beautiful town characterized by its beautiful Orbigo Bridge, object of numerous photographs of the Camino de Santiago. Your path will continue through small hills until you reach the impressive city of Astorga. We recommend that you visit the Cathedral of Santa Maria and the beautiful Episcopal Palace, a neo-Gothic building by renowned architect Gaudi.

Short stages option, Easy Camino: If you choose this itinerary option you can divide this stage into two stages with less route , with a first stage of 13 Km until the village of Hospital de Orbigo , where you will spend the night, and a second stage of 15 Km until you reach Astorga.

  4. From Astorga to Rabanal del Camino, 19 Km (12 Mi)

You will wake up in Astorga to undertake a somewhat more complicated stage, progressing from the typical plains of the plateau towards a more mountainous terrain ascending the Montes de Leon. Little by little you will be contemplating the change in the landscape until you reach Rabanal del Camino, Where will you rest tonight.

  5. From Rabanal del Camino to Ponferrada, 32 Km (20 Mi)

After resting in Rabanal del Camino and having a good breakfast, your Camino will continue with a climb to Mount Irago, one of the highest points of the Camino Frances. It will be a special stage with a memorable visit to the Iron Cross (Cruz de Ferro), between the towns of Foncebadon and Manjarin, a unique place for all pilgrims and where we recommend that you make a stop. You will continue your way down to the town of Molinaseca, to arrive later in the city of Ponferrada, where your journey ends today.

Short stages option, Easy Camino: If you choose this itinerary option you can divide this stage into two stages with less route , with a first stage of 16 Km until the village of El Acebo , where you will spend the night, and a second stage of another 16 Km until you reach Ponferrada.

  6. Ponferrada

Ponferrada is a magnificent city linked to the Camino de Santiago for centuries. We recommend that you visit its old town, the Templar Castle and try some of the typical dishes of the region to recover energy.
